I devoted the best part of my career to designing programs and strategies to transform scientific collaboration and knowledge production through principles of <em>openness<\/em>. I am the founder and Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/os4science.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/os4science.org\/\">Open Source for Science Fund<\/a>, a multi-donor initiative by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.renaissancephilanthropy.org\/\">Renaissance Philanthropy<\/a> to support and evolve the open source stack that underpins science.  Prior to joining Renaissance Philanthropy, I led a portfolio of partnerships and philanthropic investments in open science and open source at the <a href=\"https:\/\/chanzuckerberg.com\/science\/\" class=\"ext\">Chan Zuckerberg Initiative<\/a>, funding software tools, platforms, and organizations that help scientists share data, knowledge, and resources openly and build on each other\u2019s work. I previously served as the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.wikimedia.org\/\" class=\"ext\">Head of Research<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wikimediafoundation.org\/\" class=\"ext\">Wikimedia Foundation<\/a>, the non-profit that operates Wikipedia and its sister projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My <a href=\"https:\/\/nitens.org\/w\/research\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"72\">research <\/a> focuses on the behavioral and social aspects of collaborative technology.
